An apprenticeship scheme helping young people to learn on the job will be launched by Hub Le Bas next month.

The new Talent Pathway has been launched throughout the Caparo Group of companies with the drive giving students from local schools in the Bilston area the chance to gain experience, skills and qualification in engineering steel products. It will then be rolled out to all five Hub Le Bas branches in Bristol, Leicester, London, Manchester and Wakefield.

The first new starter to join the Hub le Bas team in Bilston will be a Technical Apprentice who will be recruited for laser cutting. The apprentice will also learn about the key aspects of steel engineering from the initial stages of production right through to dispatch. The areas covered will include making quotations using CAD drawings, stock management, first-off samples and quality control.

A company presentation will be organised at the schools that have been adopted to take part in the scheme, giving students and teachers the chance to learn more about Hub Le Bas and engineering.
